Feminine Odor

My grammy always told me "By the time you've smelt yourself, everyone already did". As a teenager, that saying always scared me. I was always self-conscious every time my period started. Now that I am the owner of a feminine company, I feel that it's my responsibility to share information with you. We that said, I did some digging, and here is what I found out about feminine odor.

What causes it?

There are numerous causes of feminine odor.

  • Exercise: A good workout with have you sweating. Make sure to take a shower or bath after.

  • Sex: Like exercise, sex is a workout. You should always shower (or bathe) after intercourse.

  • Skipping a bath/shower: We recommend showering twice a day. It is important to have a self-care routine.

  • Leaky Bladder/Urine: If you are experiencing a leaky bladder, consult your doctor for further treatment. Otherwise, having a urine smell as a result of not swiping after you use the restroom or not swiping enough.

  • Long pubic hair: We are all for natural! Trimming your pubic hairs and reducing your feminine odor.

  • Menstrual blood: We all know the smell of our periods. That iron, metallic smell. Use feminine wipes (linked below) after to replace your pads or tampons.

  • Tight clothing: We love good jegging! But it is also important to wear comfortable and soft clothing. Try sleeping commando (without underwear) tonight!

  • Poo residue: Nothing to be ashamed about. Sometimes we miss things. Make sure to wipe from front to back to ensure you get everything!

  • Used Pads / Tampons: We recommend that you change your pads and/or tampons every four hours. There is a reason for this. The bacteria can grow and cause a horrible smell.

  • Vaginal infections: If you think you have a vaginal infection. Consult your doctor. Often doctors recommend Boric Acid Vaginal Suppositories (Coming Soon to MNA).

How can you fight it?

If you have (or know someone with) a bad feminine odor, relax. There is hope. Here are some things you can do!

  • See a doctor: MNA Bahamas we always encourage our beauties to consult a doctor about their health and well-being.

  • Boric acid supplements (Coming Soon to MNA!): This is often recommended by doctors to combat vaginal yeast infections.

  • Feminine Washes (linked below): It is true that the vagina is self-cleaning. However, when you are suffering from feminine odor or you are on your period. A feminine wash can help you smell great.

  • White Vinegar & Salt soak (Coming Soon to MNA!): Soak in white vinegar and salt for 10-15 to help with odor.

  • Baking Soda: Add 4oz (1/2 cup) of baking soda to your bathwater and soak for 20 minutes. This was recommended by Healthy Focus.

  • Wear clean underwear (linked below): Always keep a change of underwear in your purse, car, or backpack.

  • Shave or groom your pubic hairs (linked below): You don't have to remove all of your pubic hair. Just a trim can be enough to fight feminine odor.
